With 98% of our products delivered digitally, Gen's direct emissions are relatively modest. But we don't use that as an excuse to stop there. From measuring our emissions to supporting employees with sustainable home improvements, we invest in environmental action that goes beyond compliance.

Our environmental pillars
Our environmental strategy focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reducing the impacts of our physical products, maintaining a sustainable supply chain and engaging employees and partners.
As a software-first company, Gen's Scope 1 and 2 emissions come primarily from the data centers that power our products and the offices where our people work. We actively manage both. For Scope 3, our focus areas include remote work emissions, employee travel, and the supply chain for our physical products. SHIP is a Gen employee benefit that offers up to $500 per year for home sustainability improvements — EV charging, energy-efficient upgrades, water conservation, and composting. It's a direct investment in Scope 3 reduction that also puts money in employees' pockets. Gen's SHIP program won the 2024 Communitas Award for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility: Green Initiatives.

In FY26, 98% of our products were delivered digitally. For the small fraction that ship physically, we've made real commitments: 79% of paper materials are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified, and less than 0.5% of material in our physical products is plastic. We fund packaging recycling through in-country programs worldwide.

Our Global Supplier Code of Conduct sets responsible business standards for all Tier 1 suppliers — covering environmental practices, labor standards, and ethics. Since 2025, sustainability progress is a standing item in all regular business reviews with physical product suppliers.
