We work with education partners all over the world to help students build strong, lasting digital safety habits. And we equip teachers with tools and resources that make those digital skills part of everyday learning in their school curriculums, not a one-off lesson.&nbsp;&nbsp;Since 2021, more than 42,300 students across 200 schools have taken part in Cyber Safety training through a collaboration between Norton, part of the Gen family of brands, and Bal Raksha Bharat (Save the Children – India).&nbsp;&nbsp;The focus is practical: helping young people recognize online risks and build habits that keep them safer—from spotting scams to protecting their personal information. And by bringing teachers and families into the learning process, the program ensures those behaviors don’t stop at the classroom door.&nbsp;

<h2>How it works&nbsp;</h2>We start early and keep it relevant. Students ages 10-16 learn practical Cyber Safety skills through age-based lessons covering topics like scams, phishing and online privacy. Many schools also run Cyber Safety Clubs to keep those habits going beyond the classroom.&nbsp;&nbsp;Teachers are trained alongside students with tools they can use every day — not just once.&nbsp;And the learning doesn’t stop at school. Workshops bring in parents, caregivers, School Management Committees and even local law enforcement, so the same messages show up at school, at home and in the community.&nbsp;Between April 2025 and March 2026 alone, these sessions reached more than 9,400 people, including nearly 7,800 students and more than 1,700 caregivers.&nbsp;<h2>The results are in. The impact is clear. &nbsp;</h2><ul type="disc"><li data-list-item-id="e50336e8fde80f2a8f28a0d021f201cb1">99.5% of students surveyed showed improved digital safety knowledge&nbsp;</li><li data-list-item-id="e728025570a6c3d168ca5e928feab5a43">Students scoring 70% or higher on the Cyber Safety assessment increased from 5% before the session to 91% afterwards&nbsp;</li><li data-list-item-id="e3ea6261ccdf7b675e38313b9e0410513">96% of parents said the training helped them guide their children&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li data-list-item-id="e4bc2abde24be47a263d698de4f102fee">91% of teachers saw positive changes in digital behavior, like stronger passwords and scam awareness&nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul>These results come from a sample of schools in Pune, Maharashtra and Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu that have been running the program for at least a year. &nbsp;

<h2>Why this approach matters&nbsp;</h2>This work in India is part of something bigger.&nbsp;Across the globe, Gen is helping expand access to digital education that is locally relevant, scalable and built to last—so more people can navigate the digital world with confidence.&nbsp;We’re building on this through partnerships with Discovery Education on <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/discovery-education-ai-curriculum" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">AI literacy</a> and our <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/financial-literacy-month-2026" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">financial wellness efforts</a> with the Jump$tart Coalition and the National Consumers League.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Phishing scams are more convincing. AI is making fake messages harder to spot. And once attackers get into one account, they often don’t stop there. They move laterally – email, banking, shopping, even identity data — turning a single mistake into something much bigger.That’s how account takeovers become&nbsp;identity theft.And the signals people used to rely on? They’re fading fast.As James E. Lee, President of the Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC), explains: “Remember when we used to tell people bad spelling and poor grammar were the best way to tell if someone was trying to scam you or steal your identity? AI-assisted attacks now make it easy to convince people a scam is real, compromising or bypassing passwords along the way. That’s why we all need to change our habits to include a multi-layer approach to protecting our personal information, starting with passkeys where available, and long, unique passwords created by a password manager + MFA when passkeys are not available.”The good news: protecting yourself doesn’t require expert-level skills. It requires a smarter, layered approach to how you log in; one that makes life harder for attackers, not for you. The new reality: passwords alone aren’t enoughPasswords are still everywhere. Long, unique&nbsp;passphrases are in.A passphrase (something like a string of unrelated words) is:<ul type="disc"><li data-list-item-id="e286a4823c6a31ced6d37539a0ef92c7a">harder to crack&nbsp;</li><li data-list-item-id="e51ada4f98556fc6e4edfd506d5b0811e">easier to remember&nbsp;</li><li data-list-item-id="e10a8c3ae3ceb601bfe4d90320037d1d7">more resistant to brute-force attacks&nbsp;</li></ul>Aim for at least&nbsp;12–15 characters and never reuse credentials across accounts.Why? Because password reuse is one of the fastest paths to identity theft. One breached account can unlock many more—especially email, which acts as a gateway to everything else.

<h2>A password manager makes strong security a reality</h2>Here’s the truth: no one can securely manage dozens of unique passwords on their own.That’s where a password manager comes in. It’s better than nothing—but it’s not the strongest option.Authenticator apps are more secure because:<ul type="disc"><li data-list-item-id="e1becac39799082e5fee0a8f2c7adba0b">codes are generated on your device&nbsp;</li><li data-list-item-id="eea63cb614fe3a9dfbb519f6a3e81937a">they aren’t transmitted over networks&nbsp;</li><li data-list-item-id="ee5f9827b24141bed1f6ec8e7c1acc7c4">they’re less vulnerable to SIM-swap attacks&nbsp;</li></ul>They also strike the right balance: strong security, minimal friction.<h2>Passkeys: a simpler, phishing-resistant future</h2>Passkeys are gaining traction for a reason. The <a href="https://identitytheft.gov/" target="_blank">U.S. Federal Trade Commission</a> also notes that identity theft often begins with exposed login information.In other words, protecting your accounts is one of the most effective ways to protect your identity.<h2>Security doesn’t stop at login</h2>Getting into your accounts safely is step one. Financial wellness and digital wellness are deeply connected.&nbsp;From online banking to mobile payments to scams and identity theft, financial decisions increasingly happen in digital environments.At Gen, we’re working to help people build both.Through partnerships with organizations like the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.jumpstart.org/">Jump$tart Coalition</a> and the&nbsp;<a href="https://nclnet.org/">National Consumers League</a>,&nbsp;and through the work of MoneyLion, part of the Gen family of brands, we are expanding access to the tools and education people need to navigate financial life with confidence.&nbsp;Supporting the Next Generation of Financial Decision-MakersEarlier this year, we announced a new partnership with the Jump$tart Coalition, the official nonprofit partner of Financial Literacy Month. The Jump$tart Coalition works to advance financial literacy through programs&nbsp;that reach students across K–12 classrooms nationwide.&nbsp;As an example, during Financial Literacy Month, the Jump$tart Coalition hosts an annual&nbsp;<a href="https://www.jumpstart.org/awareness/check-your-school/teen-teach-in/">Teen Teach-In</a>, where high school students studying personal finance teach elementary school students key financial concepts.&nbsp;The program builds understanding early and encourages peer-to-peer learning in communities.We also continue our longstanding support of&nbsp;<a href="https://lifesmarts.org/">LifeSmarts</a>, a program of the National Consumers League (NCL), that helps young people build critical knowledge in personal finance, consumer rights, identity protection and other digital issues. Beyond its flagship scholarship competition, LifeSmarts offers a wide variety of&nbsp;<a href="https://lifesmarts.org/resources/">trainings and resources</a> to support young people in their financial wellness journeys. In honor of tax season Gen, NCL and LifeLock, part of the Gen family of brands, collaborated on a study guide to help first-time filers understand common tax scams and how to avoid them. As part of MoneyLion’s platform evolution, we introduced identity protection services for MoneyLion WOW members, bringing LifeLock-powered scam and identity protection directly into the app. This expands MoneyLion’s capabilities beyond financial management to include identity protection. These protections are especially important for younger users. Gen Z and millennials experience&nbsp;<a href="https://www.moneylion.com/trending/money/moneylion-adds-protection-benefits">higher rates</a> of scams than any other generation,&nbsp;making education and protection critical.We also partner with the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.idtheftcenter.org/">Identity Theft Resource Center</a> (<a>ITRC</a>) to raise awareness about evolving threats, including mobile scams, impersonation phishing and romance scams. Building Financial Confidence in a Digital World

Every year on March 27th, <a href="https://ailiteracyday.org/">National AI Literacy Day</a> brings together educators, students and families to explore how to prepare learners for an AI-enabled world. Organized by the EDSAFE AI Alliance, aiEDU, Common Sense Media and The Tech Interactive, the day combines professional development opportunities for teachers with resources and hands-on activities for students that help demystify AI and support responsible use of this rapidly evolving technology.&nbsp;&nbsp;At Gen, we believe helping young people understand technology is key to building a safer digital future, and we’re excited to join in this day of action.&nbsp;&nbsp;Together with <a href="https://www.discoveryeducation.com/?utm_source=cep_marketing&amp;utm_medium=paid_partner&amp;utm_campaign=cep_Norton_Ailitblog">Discovery Education,</a> a global leader in standards-based curriculum for K-12 learning, we created “<a href="https://mydigitallife.discoveryeducation.com/pages/87386ff6-712d-4c5e-9d78-dd51477eec87">Think Smart: Exploring AI and Staying Safe Online</a>.” This new video series is designed to help children and young people understand AI works and how to use it responsibly. The videos introduce key concepts such as where AI appears in everyday life and how to recognize potential risks. The series is available free to educators, students and families through <a href="https://mydigitallife.discoveryeducation.com/">My Digital Life</a>, a multilingual education platform developed by Discovery Education and Norton, part of the Gen family of brands.&nbsp;&nbsp;Supporting Educators with AI Literacy Resources&nbsp;Norton has partnered with Discovery Education and <a href="https://naaweb.org/">National AfterSchool Association</a> on My Digital Life since 2023. The platform provides teachers around the world with standards-aligned instructional resources that help students develop essential digital citizenship skills.&nbsp;&nbsp;Lesson plans, interactive activities and videos for students in grades 3-8 explore topics such as cyberbullying, misinformation and protecting personal data. Norton’s technical expertise helps ensure the content remains accurate and reflects the latest developments in the digital landscape.&nbsp;The new AI video series builds on this foundation. Through animated storytelling and relatable scenarios, it explores how artificial intelligence intersects with online safety and everyday digital behavior. The lessons encourage students to think critically about technology while developing the skills needed to use AI responsibly.&nbsp;Since launching, My Digital Life resources have reached nearly <a>490,000</a>&nbsp;young people globally. These materials are currently available in English, Spanish, Arabic, <a>Hindi</a>, French and German,&nbsp;helping bring digital education into classrooms across multiple regions.&nbsp;Expanding Access to AI Education&nbsp;Our collaboration with Discovery Education is part of Gen’s broader effort to expand access to digital safety and AI education for young people.&nbsp;We also partner with <a href="https://www.wagggs.org/en/">World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts</a> (WAGGGS), a global movement reaching millions of girls and young women. In 2025, new AI education modules were added to <a href="https://www.wagggs.org/en/what-we-do/surf-smart-20/">Surf Smart 2.0</a>, a nonformal digital safety education program developed by WAGGGS and Norton that has reached more than 850,000 participants worldwide. Through the program, students explore how AI appears in their daily lives, from chatbots to content recommendations, and learn how to set thoughtful boundaries with emerging tools.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;Gen also supports Discovery Education’s <a href="https://digitalcitizenship.discoveryeducation.com/">Digital Citizenship Initiative</a>, which helps students build the skills needed to create a more respectful and responsible online world. The initiative includes multiple resources on <a href="https://digitalcitizenship.discoveryeducation.com/ai-literacy">AI literacy</a>, helping middle and high school students better understand how AI shapes their online experiences.&nbsp;&nbsp;Additionally, we participated in “Teaching AI with Confidence: Skills and Strategies for AI Literacy Day,” a free panel discussion for educators to help strengthen AI‑ready instruction across grade levels. Gen’s Head of Corporate Responsibility &amp; Government Affairs joined the panel, which highlighted practical, age‑appropriate strategies for teaching AI and digital citizenship. Helping Students Understand AI in the Classroom

Every year on March 8, International Women’s Day invites us to celebrate the long history of women’s social, economic and cultural progress while recognizing the work still ahead — including in the digital world.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Technology has opened new doors for connection, learning and opportunity. Yet it has also introduced new risks. According to UN Women, technology-facilitated violence against women and girls is on the rise, with <a href="https://www.unwomen.org/en/digital-library/publications/2024/10/intensification-of-efforts-to-eliminate-all-forms-of-violence-against-women-report-of-the-secretary-general-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">studies</a> showing that as many as 58% have experienced forms of digital abuse, including hacking, stalking, and online harassment.&nbsp; &nbsp;At Gen, we believe the internet should be safe for everyone. That belief drives our partnership with the <a href="https://www.wagggs.org/en/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts</a> (WAGGGS), a global movement reaching millions of girls and young women.&nbsp;&nbsp;Together with WAGGGS, Norton, part of the Gen family of brands, codeveloped <a href="https://www.wagggs.org/en/what-we-do/surf-smart-20/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Surf Smart</a>, a nonformal education program that has reached more than 850,000 girls and young women worldwide with digital safety resources to date. In early 2026, WAGGGS launched the next evolution of this work: <a href="https://www.wagggs.org/en/news/advocacy-for-generation-digital-a4gd-launches-to-support-youth-led-action-for-a-safer-digital-world/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Advocacy for Generation Digital</a>.&nbsp;<h2>Moving From Education to Action&nbsp;</h2>Advocacy for Generation Digital builds on Surf Smart 2.0 and helps girls and young women transform knowledge into leadership. The curriculum supports participants as they identify digital issues that matter most to them, strengthen research and communication skills and design advocacy campaigns that promote safer and more inclusive online spaces. &nbsp;The program offers learning pathways for elementary, middle and high school students and can be adapted to local contexts. It is available in English, French, Spanish and Arabic. WAGGGS also provides <a href="https://campfire.wagggs.org/topic/grant-application-advocacy-generation-digital-2026?_gl=1*1huf6ak*_ga*MzAyNTY1NDA5LjE3NjI1NjA1OTQ.*_ga_T1311503CC*czE3NzA5MjQzMzMkbzEwJGcxJHQxNzcwOTI0ODY5JGo2MCRsMCRoMA.." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">advocacy grants</a> to Member Organizations, helping bring youth-led projects to life in communities around the world.&nbsp;The impact of youth advocacy is already clear. In 2023 and 2024, young women in 10 countries launched campaigns addressing digital inclusion and online safety. Some organized public panels. Others engaged local media. That’s why Gen works with nonprofit partners all around the world to equip young people and their families with practical digital safety and financial educational materials. It’s also why we’re excited to announce that we’ve joined the <a href="https://www.jumpstart.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jump$tart Coalition</a>. As a National Partner, we work collaboratively to move financial literacy forward through shared resources and expertise.&nbsp;These days, financial wellness and digital wellness are inseparable. Navigating life online increasingly means protecting against identity theft, fraud, and financial scams—risks that can derail financial stability before it even begins. We believe helping young people navigate digital life also means helping them safeguard their financial futures, and we’re proud to support the Jump$tart Coalition in their mission to advance financial literacy skills for students across the U.S.&nbsp; &nbsp;Providing students with high-quality financial education&nbsp;The Jump$tart Coalition works with more than 100 partners at the national and state level to develop educational resources about financial wellness for students of all ages. The organization created, along with the Council for Economic Education, the <a href="https://www.jumpstart.org/education/national-standards/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">National Standards for Personal Financial Education</a>, which guide educators and policymakers to create and implement effective financial education for K-12 students. Jump$tart has maintained the standards since 1998, offering regular updates to include the latest information and best practices. Together, these standards help ensure students receive consistent, high-quality financial education no matter where they live or learn.&nbsp;&nbsp;The organization also operates a series of programs designed to empower educators with the tools they need to raise students’ awareness of financial wellness principles. These include the annual <a href="https://www.jumpstart.org/education/nec/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jump$tart National Educator Conference</a>, convening K-12 teachers from across the U.S. for three days of professional development and knowledge sharing, and the free <a href="https://www.jumpstart.org/education/jsffe/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jump$tart Financial Foundations for Educators</a> course for teachers to improve their financial education expertise.&nbsp;&nbsp;The <a href="https://jumpstartclearinghouse.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jump$tart Clearinghouse</a> provides a free database of vetted financial education curricula, activities and lesson plans geared toward teachers, families, education advocates and researchers. Each resource is aligned with the National Standards for Personal Financial Education. Additionally, Jump$tart’s <a href="https://www.jumpstart.org/education/reality-check/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Reality Check</a> tool helps students who are entering the workforce calculate their expenses and set financial goals. Jump$tart is also the primary promoter of Financial Literacy Month each April, a nationwide campaign to promote financial literacy and education.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Empowering financial wellness across the U.S.&nbsp;Our partnership with Jump$tart builds on Gen’s broader commitment to advancing financial wellness and consumer protection. We are a longtime supporter of <a href="https://lifesmarts.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">LifeSmarts</a>, a program of the National Consumers League (NCL). This free consumer literacy competition and scholarship opportunity helps provide young people with skills in personal finance, consumer rights and more critical areas. Every year, more than 100 countries around the world celebrate <a href="https://safer.connectsafely.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Safer Internet Day</a>, a global effort to help people use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively — especially children and young people.&nbsp;&nbsp;At Gen, digital freedom is at the core of what we do. Helping people stay safe online through education and training is a key pillar of our social impact strategy. We partner with nonprofits across the globe to equip families, educators and young people with the tools they need to navigate an increasingly complex digital world with confidence.&nbsp; As technology evolves, we regularly update our resources to reflect emerging platforms, technologies such as AI, and changing behaviors. Together with our partners, we are strengthening digital resilience, safeguarding personal information and advancing digital literacy at scale.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;Empowering families to talk about digital safety&nbsp;Parents and caregivers play a critical role in shaping healthy digital habits. That’s why National PTA and Norton, one of our trusted Cyber Safety brands, developed <a href="https://thesmarttalk.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Smart Talk</a>. This free resource helps families start open, positive conversations about online safety and privacy. Through guided prompts and practical tips, The Smart Talk supports families in setting boundaries, understanding risks and building trust together. Since launch, more than 20,000 people have accessed The Smart Talk.&nbsp;It is a featured resource in National PTA’s <a href="https://safer.connectsafely.org/national-pta-resources/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Safer Internet Day toolkit</a>, which also includes a <a href="https://safer.connectsafely.org/family-program/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">live conversation</a> on digital parenting, teen-focused tip sheets and resources on mental health and belonging. The Smart Talk is also a signature offering of <a href="https://www.pta.org/home/programs/connected" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">PTA Connected</a>, an initiative designed to create judgment-free spaces where families can learn about digital safety with guidance from expert resources. Norton is the Founding and Presenting Sponsor of PTA Connected and, in 2025, sponsored grants for 20 local PTAs, enabling them to host digital safety workshops in their school communities.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bringing digital safety into the classroom&nbsp;&nbsp;We also work with our partners to get digital safety resources into the hands of educators. Since 2023, Norton has worked with Discovery Education on <a href="https://mydigitallife.discoveryeducation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">My Digital Life</a>, a multilingual platform offering digital safety activities and lesson plans for children in grades three through eight. Discovery Education estimates the program has now reached nearly 490,000 students with essential digital safety skills.&nbsp;&nbsp;Gen also supports Discovery Education’s <a href="https://digitalcitizenship.discoveryeducation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Digital Citizenship Initiative</a>, which promotes respectful and responsible online behavior. Gen celebrates Safer Internet Day with our nonprofit partners

Working together for a better internet

January is National Stalking Awareness Month, a time each year to acknowledge and educate about the dangers of stalking, which increasingly includes cyberstalking and other forms of tech-facilitated harassment. A 2025 <a href="https://academic.oup.com/bjc/advance-article/doi/10.1093/bjc/azaf064/8216857?login=false" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">study</a> led by researchers at University College London found that cyberstalking is growing at a faster rate than traditional stalking and that cyberstalking often disproportionately affects women. &nbsp;&nbsp;At Gen, we believe that everyone should be able to navigate the digital world safely and confidently. That’s why we have long partnered with the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) to develop resources that help survivors recognize and recover from tech-related abuse, including stalking, identity theft, financial abuse and more. The organization estimates that these resources served nearly 600,000 survivors since the start of our work together.&nbsp;&nbsp;Providing Survivors with Digital Safety Tools&nbsp;&nbsp;Together with NNEDV, we provide resources to survivors, allies, service providers and shelter staff to enable them with critical information about tech-related abuse and digital safety. Here are a few highlights from our work together:&nbsp;&nbsp;<ul><li><a href="https://www.techsafety.org/securingdevicesaccounts" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Securing Devices and Accounts,</a> a co-branded resource from NNEDV and our Cyber Safety brand, Norton, goes through the basics of digital security and privacy, tailored to the needs of and risks faced by survivors.</li><li><a href="https://www.techsafety.org/financial-abuse-and-technology" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Financial Abuse and Technology</a>, another co-branded resource, explains the growing role that crimes like identity theft, controlling funds and fraud play in domestic violence.</li><li>Norton sponsored and contributed speakers to <a href="https://nnedv.org/content/safety-nets-virtual-tech-summit-2025/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NNEDV’s Virtual Tech Summit</a>, a three-day conference that convened tech leaders and domestic violence survivor advocates to discuss safety planning, intimate image abuse, AI, stalkerware, online data, tech policy and tech-facilitated advocacy.</li><li>Gen leaders Kim Allman and Iskander Sanchez-Rola participated in NNEDV’s webinar, “<a href="https://events.techsoup.org/events/details/techsoup-techsoup-events-and-webinars-presents-increasing-privacy-online-supporting-survivors-of-domestic-violence-in-the-digital-age/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Increasing Privacy Online: Supporting Survivors of Domestic Violence in the Digital Age</a>,” discussing why online privacy is important to survivors, which cybersecurity tools can help and more.</li><li><a href="https://www.techsafety.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Safety Net Project</a>, NNEDV’s broad initiative to combat tech-related abuse, conducted various trainings on digital safety and privacy in 2025, including a webinar in partnership with Norton and TechSoup.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>The Safety Net also developed multiple new resources on <a href="https://www.techsafety.org/the-safety-net-survivors-guide-to-ai" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">how AI can impact survivors</a> and “<a href="https://www.techsafety.org/documentationtips" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Documentation Tips for Survivors of Technology Abuse &amp; Stalking</a>,” designed to support survivors in documenting their experiences and safety planning. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Collectively, these resources served thousands of people in 2025. Additionally, beginning in 2024, Gen partnered with <a href="https://www.techsoup.org/norton?srsltid=AfmBOopympdRWUwsvoll4kigMFL-pDan4L5EVMAcWT36mGgS-0sSeP4D" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">TechSoup</a> to donate Norton 360 Deluxe and Norton Secure VPN to domestic violence survivors. Between April and December 2025, the program provided nearly 2,000 free Norton product licenses to help survivors recover from financial or other technological abuse, a collective retail value of more than $200,000. The <a href="https://www.safesheltercollaborative.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Safe Shelter Collaborative</a> receives the licenses from TechSoup and in turn delivers the products to survivors through its network of member organizations. NNEDV also collaborates on the donation program.&nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp;Supporting Survivors on a Global Scale&nbsp;&nbsp;NNEDV also continued to raise awareness internationally in 2025. A strong culture of giving has always been part of who we are at Gen. Our Purpose to Power Digital Freedom extends beyond our products and shows up in the ways our people invest in their communities, support one another and take action on the issues that matter most. This year, we continued to build on that commitment through programs designed to make giving easier and more personal for every employee.&nbsp;Collectively, our holiday giving efforts resulted in nearly $579,000 in donations to more than 2,000 causes, with roughly 72% of team members across the company participating, the highest participation rate in Gen’s history. Additionally, Gen sites around the world volunteered to support seniors, children and community members in need.&nbsp;

Empowering Employees to Give with #WeAreGenerous&nbsp;Each November, our global team comes together for #WeAreGENerous, Gen’s annual initiative to spark giving where we live and work. To kick off the campaign, Gen launched its third Geneversary Awards, celebrating Gen’s anniversary as a company and giving every employee $50 to donate to a charity of their choice, with this year’s campaign . garnering $230,000 in total donations. Employee participation has steadily increased every year since the first #WeAreGENerous campaign in 2023, with this year’s rate—72%— being the highest we’ve ever achieved. &nbsp;We also hosted 10 Days of Generosity, providing teams with daily, actionable prompts to donate locally, schedule volunteer time, share a community resource, recognize a colleague and more. Employees were encouraged to complete one action per day and tracked their progress through the Gen Giving Hub, making it easy to engage and stay connected to our collective impact.&nbsp;&nbsp;Building on this momentum, on Giving Tuesday Gen doubled its company match for employee donations from 1:1 to 2:1 and raised the match maximum by $1,000 per person. The campaign totaled $349,000 for more than 400 global causes.&nbsp;Additionally, our colleagues at MoneyLion spread the spirit of giving to their audience on social media, running a seven-day campaign during the week of Thanksgiving that asked followers to share positive messages and what about MoneyLion they’re thankful for. MoneyLion spotlighted the most inspiring responses throughout the week and selected three winners to receive $300 gift cards.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Practicing Generosity, Locally&nbsp;Throughout the holiday season, team members across our global sites also came together to reach out to their neighbors and address their communities’ unique needs. In the U.S., we supported <a href="https://ronaldmcdonaldhouse.org/donate?c_src=paid&amp;c_src2=25YERPM_search_google_exact_new&amp;utm_campaign=exact&amp;utm_medium=google&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=23138553047&amp;gbraid=0AAAAACRPtoSoA9IE4OZQVA5S-C8Iq7crE&amp;gclid=CjwKCAiA_dDIBhB6EiwAvzc1cDHyDPvWKhr1SeeIf_SFswqmmboZnlatzNa31rCqWG0m7vg1LBqvmxoCThcQAvD_BwE" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ronald McDonald House</a> with holiday gift drives in Tempe and Mountain View for families experiencing financial stress, and. our New York team volunteered to stuff and decorate teddy bears, more than 60 volunteers donated over 100 gifts.&nbsp;&nbsp;In EMEA, teams organized volunteer days and drives with local nonprofits, including wreath-making workshops with senior citizens in Prague and gift drives for children in need in Bucharest, Tettnang and Belgrade. In Dublin, 20 volunteers worked with people experiencing homelessness, and more than 50 additional employees donated gifts to children in need. And in India, colleagues in Chennai and Pune celebrated Diwali by collecting gifts for local children and delivering them to elementary schools in the region. &nbsp;We also give back throughout the year through <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/passion-to-purpose" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Passion to Purpose</a>. Through this initiative, employees can turn their interests into action by applying for grants or organizing volunteer projects that support nonprofit partners, putting the company’s reach and resources behind the causes that matter to them. For example, the team at our MoneyLion office in Kuala Lumpur recently planned a hands-on volunteer experience to support indigenous communities and other community members in Peninsular Malaysia, and our colleagues at our office in Chennai, India, organized a workshop for creating inclusive environments for people with disabilities.&nbsp;&nbsp;Serving Our Communities Year-Round&nbsp;We’re proud that our teams continue to serve their communities well beyond the end of the holiday season. Helping people protect themselves from online scams is a major part of Gen’s Purpose to Power Digital Freedom. Survey data from Gen shows that more than a third (35%) of Americans have been targeted by a scam this year, with 74% of victims being financially impacted. During the holiday season, those threats rise even higher. Fake shopping sites, spoofed delivery notices and too-good-to-be-true online deals all surge as scammers take advantage of busy, distracted consumers.&nbsp;From the trusted technology made by our cybersecurity brands like Avast, which recently wrapped up its <a href="https://blog.avast.com/do-you-see-what-i-see-avast-unwraps-top-holiday-scams-in-festive-new-youtube-series" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">12 Days of Scam-mas campaign</a>, to nonprofits reaching vulnerable communities, we’re committed to making sure everyone has the tools to stay safe across all corners of their digital lives.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Teaming Up to Increase Access to Critical Resources&nbsp;A key partner in our work to combat online scams is the <a href="https://www.idtheftcenter.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Identity Theft Resource Center</a> (ITRC), which helps prevent and reduce the impact of identity theft, scams and fraud.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We collaborate with ITRC throughout the year to highlight specific risks to personal data, including mobile scams, romance scams and impersonation phishing. In December, ITRC partnered with Gen on a downloadable PDF that shares tips on how to protect yourself and your identity during the holiday season. ITRC will also include a year-end roundup of how to recognize common scams on its <a href="https://www.idtheftcenter.org/podcasts/?_sft_podcast_type=fraudian" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fraudian Slip</a> podcast, a recurring monthly feature on the organization’s main <a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/idtheftcenter/id1543301596" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">podcast feed</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We also support <a href="https://nclnet.org/lifesmarts/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">LifeSmarts</a>, the National Consumers League’s flagship youth consumer education program, which empowers teens with real-world knowledge, fraud prevention skills and critical thinking tools to make safe and informed decisions in today’s digital and consumer marketplace. Gen’s support not only allows for financial literacy content development for students in high school and college; it also underwrites scholarships for LifeSmarts participants and alumni. &nbsp;&nbsp;Sharing Anti-Scam Expertise with Industry Peers&nbsp;Gen also invests in the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) and recently joined their North America Summit. This Summit brings together leaders in finance, government and cybersecurity to share best practices and advance digital safety. A Safe and Scam-Free Holiday Season 

Last year, more than 67% of our team members participated in our volunteering and giving programs, logging 8,300 hours globally for the causes that matter to them. This showcases just how much Team Gen values giving in our communities. As we challenge ourselves to expand our programs, we listened to employee feedback to make community service easier and more personal to local needs. &nbsp;We’re excited to introduce Passion to Purpose, the newest addition to our suite of volunteering and giving opportunities. This program allows employees all over the world to apply for Gen grants, which go to a nonprofit of their choice, and organize volunteer projects using the company’s reach and resources. &nbsp;&nbsp;Together with our ongoing mentorship programs, which help employees put their skills and expertise to use in service to others; Passion to Purpose helps employees lead with heart, take bold action and drive lasting impact. &nbsp;Passion to purpose drives global impact&nbsp;In its first few weeks, Passion to Purpose has inspired employees to organize projects based on local needs. At our office in Chennai, India, our team members partnered with <a href="https://giftabled.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">GiftAbled</a> to host a workshop on creating an inclusive environment for people with disabilities. More than 30 employees attended the session, which also included an Indian Sign Language training.&nbsp;&nbsp;Additionally, our MoneyLion office in Kuala Lumpur planned a hands-on volunteer experience to support indigenous communities and other community members in Peninsular Malaysia. The team partnered with local organization <a href="https://epic.my/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">EPIC</a> (Extraordinary People Impacting Communities), bringing together 70 employees for a two-day interactive workshop called The Good Builder. &nbsp;Guided by experts, the MoneyLion team were trained to use various hand and power tools. This training enabled them to assemble 32 chairs, 32 tables, and six bookshelves for students at the Subang Bestari 2 National School, fulfilling a critical need for safe, sturdy classroom furniture. The training also certifies MoneyLion volunteers for future builds with EPIC Homes, a program that provides indigenous communities in Malaysia with safe homes that can be built in just three days. &nbsp;Gen supported both events through grant funding and paid time off for team members to volunteer.&nbsp;

Cyber skills for the next generation&nbsp;Through Passion to Purpose, Gen team members are also taking advantage of multiple opportunities to use their skills to volunteer, often in the form of mentorship programs to support students and emerging tech professionals.&nbsp;&nbsp;Through our partnership with <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/hbcu-heroes-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HBCU Heroes</a>, Gen volunteers meet quarterly with students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) that are about to enter the workforce. The most recent session focused on mapping out students’ desired career journeys, and the final session will include mock interviews and prep for job hunting as students embark on their professional lives. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition, we hosted a reverse mentoring session with GirlBoss New Zealand. Gen provided full scholarships to 31 students, allowing them to attend the organization’s 10-day school holiday program. Through the program, young women were provided with a mentor and growth opportunities to build their confidence and leadership skills. We have also teamed up with <a href="https://latinageeks.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">#LatinaGeeks</a> for workshops during National Hispanic Heritage Month to help Latinas build confidence and sharpen their professional communication and public speaking skills.&nbsp;These efforts complement our signature partnerships with <a href="https://women4cyber.eu/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Women4Cyber</a> and <a href="https://www.czechitas.cz/kurzy/digitalni-akademie-data" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Czechitas</a> to close the cybersecurity talent gap. Digital citizenship programs help students all over the world become the leaders of tomorrow through building their skills to safely and effectively leverage technology in our digital-first world. Recent studies from <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/sites/default/files/featured-content/files/digital-citizenship-curriculum-impact-report_june-2024.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Common Sense Media</a> and <a href="https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s40688-023-00465-5" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Contemporary School Psychology</a> documented benefits not just to students’ digital know-how but also their critical thinking and social skills. The more we depend on technology, the better we need to serve our students by giving them the tools to thrive in the digital world.&nbsp;&nbsp;That’s why we’re proud to celebrate two years of impact through our partnership with <a href="https://www.discoveryeducation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Discovery Education</a>, the creator of essential PreK-12 learning solutions used in classrooms around the world. Together with the <a href="https://naaweb.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">National Afterschool Association</a>, we created <a href="https://mydigitallife.discoveryeducation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">My Digital Life</a>, a free platform that provides grade 3-8 educators with lesson plans, videos and interactive tools meant to address common issues young people face online, from cyberbullying and privacy risks to misinformation and scams.&nbsp;&nbsp;This fall, we’re also excited to launch new curricula focused on AI and join Discovery Education’s <a href="https://digitalcitizenship.discoveryeducation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Digital Citizenship</a> initiative, a nationwide effort to put resources about media literacy and digital safety into the hands of teachers, administrators, parents, families, caregivers and more.&nbsp;&nbsp;Building Students’ Digital Safety Skills&nbsp;In the 2024-2025 school year alone, My Digital Life reached more than 180,000 students in 652school districts across 46 states. Roughly 59% of these students were from Title I schools, which are districts allocated federal funds for education programs and schools that close achievement gaps.&nbsp;&nbsp;The program also launched internationally, expanding into schools across the United Kingdom and offering content in Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, French and German. These combined efforts bring the total number of students reached to nearly 415,000 in just two years. &nbsp;Keeping Pace with New Technologies&nbsp;Norton, one of our trusted Cyber Safety brands, not only offers technical support for My Digital Life but also consults on curriculum development as new digital trends and technologies emerge, including artificial intelligence (AI). Discovery Ed’s new video series introduces students to “Artie Fischal,” the character who will help illustrate how to use AI responsibly and safely. Lessons will cover the benefits of AI—such as how it can help with productivity and efficiency—as well as what today’s students need to be aware of, including algorithm bias, inaccurate responses and privacy/safety concerns.&nbsp;&nbsp;Supporting Nonprofits and Community Organizations&nbsp;In addition to our signature digital education and training partnerships, we also support education organizations in communities all over the world through volunteering, giving and product donations. Recently, we donated <a href="https://www.avast.com/en-us/business/products/essential#mac" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Avast Essential Business Security</a> to <a href="https://www.srec.education/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Shree Raj Education Centre</a>, which provides schooling in a remote, rural region of Maharashtra, India. Preparing students to excel in a technology-driven world

For the second year in a row, Gen team members from around the world came together for our annual Global Volunteer Week, seven full days of service that support the communities where we work and live.&nbsp;&nbsp;Through a combination of in-person and virtual events, more than 600 employees logged roughly 1,800 volunteer hours in support of 37 nonprofits. These figures represent an 11% increase over 2024 in terms of the number of people participating and a 35% increase in the total number of volunteer hours, making May 18-24, 2025, seven of the most impactful days in Gen’s history.&nbsp;&nbsp;Highlights from these events, which spanned 13 Gen sites across three continents, are included below. They demonstrate the strength of our company-wide culture of giving, which remains at the heart of everything we do, and partly comprise the consistent yearly increase in Gen employees’ annual volunteer hours, which are up 35% since 2024 and 75% since 2023.&nbsp;

<h2>Supporting Vulnerable Populations&nbsp;</h2>Teams all over the world rallied their collective efforts in service of our communities’ most vulnerable members, from survivors of domestic violence to adults with disabilities and many more. Examples of these activities include:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<ul><li>Through collaborations with <a href="https://nnedv.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">National Network to End Domestic Violence</a> and <a href="https://projecthelping.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Project Helping</a>, team members across every single one of our U.S. sites, as well as our remote U.S. employees, packed 500 backpacks filled with essential items and uplifting notes for survivors of domestic violence.</li><li>Our team members in Brno, Czechia, spent a day cleaning and conducting site maintenance at <a href="https://www.dumprojulii.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">House for Juliet</a>, Czechia’s hospice care center for children. After the staff mentioned a shortage of equipment, Brno staff subsequently donated multiple laptops and monitors. &nbsp;</li><li>Teams in Tempe, Arizona, and Plano, Texas, respectively packed nearly 42,000 meals for <a href="https://www.fmsc.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Feed My Starving Children</a> and sorted more than 15,500 meals for <a href="https://ntfb.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">North Texas Food Bank</a>. Mountain View, California, employees cooked and served 150 dinner plates for families at <a href="https://rmhcbayarea.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ronald McDonald House Charities Bay Area</a>. &nbsp;</li><li>More than 50 team members supported people with disabilities through in-person and virtual sessions led by <a href="https://www.accel.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ACCEL</a>. In-person volunteers visited ACCEL’s adult education services, and remote volunteers led a virtual round of Jeopardy to help boost the players’ confidence. &nbsp;</li><li>To care for elder populations, volunteers at the NAM Sales kickoff wrote 100 cards to seniors facing isolation, and in Chennai, India, volunteers visited an elder care home and spent the day with the patients there.&nbsp;</li></ul>“The shelter was filled with laughter, music and connection,” said Dinesh Bhalaji who volunteered in Chennai. “We played Tambola, danced together and most importantly, we made some wonderful new friends. It was a reminder that somethings, the simplest gestures can bring immense joy to someone else.”&nbsp;&nbsp;<h2>&nbsp;</h2>

<h2>Protecting Local Habitats&nbsp;</h2>We have a long history of supporting our plant and animal neighbors as part of our volunteer efforts, and this year was no different. Employes in Dublin, Tempe, Brno and Prague convened at animal shelters, zoos and equestrian centers to beautify the grounds and help make the physical environments as safe and comfortable as possible for both the animals and their visitors. Similar efforts include tree planting, beautification of a learning center in Bucharest to support children and families, sprucing up the outdoor space for <a href="https://palata.cz/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Palata Home for the Visually Impaired</a> in Prague and more. &nbsp;

<h2>Empowering the Next Generation&nbsp;</h2>Teams in multiple countries used Global Volunteer Week as an opportunity to reach out to children and young people. They shared their enthusiasm for reading as well as their expertise in digital safety, and they prepared school supply kits for students starting or returning to school next year. Examples include:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<ul><li>Team members in Dublin participated in a CyberSafe Kids workshop, providing a fun, informative session to help protect youth in Ireland from online scams and cyber threats.</li><li>Chennai volunteers helped design educational games about financial literacy to help teach children about saving, spending and budgeting.</li><li>More than 100 Chennai volunteers assembled nearly 500 school supply kits, helping students have what they need to start the school year with confidence.</li><li>Through <a href="https://afft.org.za/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Food for Thought</a>, virtual volunteers created heartfelt, encouraging cards for school-age children in South Africa.</li><li>Team members took part in events encouraging students to read, including a virtual read-a-thon with <a href="https://www.ourkidsread.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Our Kids Read</a>.&nbsp;</li></ul>Additional events in Serbia, Romania and beyond saw Gen team members continue to work in support of the causes and organizations that they care about. Gen expands impact during second global volunteer week

At Gen, we believe that everyone should feel safe and able to take full advantage of the digital world. The knowledge that our personal data and financial information are protected brings invaluable peace of mind, and we aim to provide that sense of confidence to individuals across the globe, including members of our most vulnerable communities.&nbsp;&nbsp;That’s why we work with organizations like the <a href="https://nnedv.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">National Network to End Domestic Violence</a> (NNEDV), the leading voice in the United States for domestic violence survivors and their advocates. Together, we’ve joined the fight against technology abuse, a growing part of domestic violence that often includes online stalking, identity theft or financial abuse.&nbsp;&nbsp;Through product donations and volunteer initiatives, we’ve helped raise awareness of tech-facilitated abuse, created tools that make survivors’ lives online safer and more private, and continued to support our nonprofit partners serving these communities on the ground.&nbsp;&nbsp;<h2>Providing Survivors with Tools to Help Stay Cyber Safe&nbsp;</h2>In 2024, we launched a <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/product-donations-domestic-violence" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">targeted donation program</a> through our partnership with <a href="https://www.techsoup.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">TechSoup</a> to provide more than 3,700 Norton product licenses to domestic violence survivors across the U.S. TechSoup helps facilitate the donations to the <a href="https://www.safesheltercollaborative.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Safe Shelter Collaborative</a>, which in turn delivers the products to survivors through its network of member organizations.&nbsp;&nbsp;The donated products include Norton 360 Deluxe, which can prevent activity or location tracking, information theft, installation of malicious programs and uninvited changes to devices, and Norton Secure VPN, which protects the user’s online privacy by hiding the computer’s address from websites visited from any device.&nbsp;&nbsp;NNEDV, which represents the 56 U.S. state and territorial domestic violence coalitions, who in turn represent more than 2,000 local programs and the millions of survivors they serve annually, also collaborates on the donation program.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<h2>Coming Together to Support Survivors&nbsp;</h2>Gen team members from across the company have volunteered their time and effort in service of survivors through a series of recent events. In April, our Head of Corporate Responsibility and our Director of AI &amp; Innovation spoke alongside NNEDV representatives on a <a href="https://events.techsoup.org/events/details/techsoup-techsoup-events-and-webinars-presents-increasing-privacy-online-supporting-survivors-of-domestic-violence-in-the-digital-age/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">virtual panel</a> about how to support domestic violence survivors in the digital age.&nbsp;&nbsp;The conversation covered the threats that survivors face online, how to identify tech-facilitated abuse when it happens and how advocates can help survivors increase their digital privacy. The event also shone a spotlight on some of the digital resources we’ve co-created with NNEDV, such as the <a href="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/51dc541ce4b03ebab8c5c88c/t/662bd1d57985a514ed7e1765/1714147797437/Financial+Abuse+and+Technology_FINAL_Gen.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Financial Abuse and Technology Guide</a> and the <a href="https://www.techsafety.org/securingdevicesaccounts" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Securing Devices and Accounts Guide</a>. These tools are in addition to our $100,000 annual grant to NNEDV, supporting the organization’s <a href="https://nnedv.org/content/technology-safety/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Safety Net</a> technology abuse response initiative as well as its <a href="https://nnedv.org/about-dv/dv-economic-justice/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Economic Justice</a> program.&nbsp;Subsequently, Gen team members at every one of our U.S. locations, including our new MoneyLion offices in New York and New Jersey, as well as our remote U.S. employees, participated in events facilitated by <a href="https://www.visit.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Visit.org</a> that benefited domestic violence survivors as part of our 2025 Global Volunteer Week. Together, Gen volunteers assembled nearly 500 backpacks for survivors that included food, hygiene items and physical copies of the resources we developed with NNEDV to help survivors stay safe online. This meaningful partnership with NNEDV helped enhance the impact of the events and further spread the word about the organization’s critical work.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;"I grew up in and used to work in shelters around New York, so I know how much this means," said one volunteer. "We wrote messages for survivors and packed kits with everyday essentials... Our culture of giving is one of the defining aspects of life at Gen. All over the world, our team members find myriad ways to get involved with the causes they care about, from in-person volunteering to virtual skills sharing to targeted donation campaigns and more.&nbsp;&nbsp;This spirit of service was on full display over the past year of business. Between April 2024 and March 2025, more than 67% of our global workforce took part in our Giving@Gen program, our highest participation rate to date. Team members logged upwards of 8,300 volunteer hours and donated nearly $153,000 to 1,710 nonprofits.&nbsp;&nbsp;To celebrate these milestones, we’re taking a moment to recognize our employees for making such a positive impact. Thanks to their passion and dedication, we’re proud to see our culture of giving continue to grow and thrive.&nbsp;&nbsp;Coming Together to Make a Difference&nbsp;In-person volunteering is one of the ways our team members contribute to their local communities. In addition to organizing company-wide events such as our <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/volunteer-week-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Global Volunteer Week</a> and <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/holiday-giving-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">holiday giving campaigns</a>, we empower our local sites to find opportunities that resonate with their employees.&nbsp;For example, volunteers at our Dublin office partnered with a <a href="https://www.stphilipsjns.ie/news/time-to-read-visits/?p=1&amp;" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">local elementary </a>school for <a href="https://bitc.ie/programmes/education-programmes/time-to-read/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Time to Read</a>, a nationwide literacy program that aims to address disparities in education. As part of the program, volunteers took a group of students to their local library and later welcomed them to the Gen office to learn Cyber Safety skills and more about what we do each day.&nbsp;&nbsp;“I volunteered with Time to Read not only because I love working with kids but also because encouraging them to engage with reading is such a great opportunity,” said Márcio Barros, a web producer at Gen Dublin. “I wish I had something like this when I was a kid.”Efforts at other sites include a “Girls in Tech” event in March at our Chennai, India office. There, team members welcomed students from nearby colleges for a day of in-depth cybersecurity training, with the aim of expanding the talent pool for the country’s <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/india-impact-women-2023" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">growing tech industry</a>. Making a Deeper Connection&nbsp;In addition to in-person volunteering and donations, our team members volunteer to serve on boards and put their day-to-day skills to use for causes they care about.&nbsp;Utam Reddy, our Head of Partnership Sales for North America, joined the board of the <a href="https://centerforchildprotection.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Center for Child Protection</a>, an organization based in Austin, Texas, that provides healing and prevention services for abused children.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“Being on the board has been a great way to donate my time and skills to an important nonprofit in my community,” said Reddy. “I attend monthly board meetings and serve additional time on the finance/audit committee, and I appreciate Gen’s donation that I can give back to the Center.”&nbsp;Our <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/hbcu-heroes-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">work with HBCU Heroes</a> pairs Gen mentors from across the company with students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities to offer career advice and skills development as they prepare to enter the professional world. This skills-based volunteering offering allows Gen team members to share their expertise both with the HBCU students and each other. Volunteers first undergo training from our People &amp; Culture team and Talent Acquisition partners to enhance their abilities to set the students up for professional success. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;This practice of peer-to-peer skills volunteering has continued across the company. Bogomil Shopov, Program Management Director of Digital Trust Service, is currently leading a global community of remote volunteers through workshops on how to use <a href="https://www.openstreetmap.org/about" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">OpenStreetMap</a>. Together, they participate in challenges such as mapping freshwater resources and underrepresented rural areas to enhance resource management, environmental conservation and data-driven decision-making.&nbsp;Employees also lend their expertise to our nonprofit partners. The Gen culture of giving continues to grow

On the second Tuesday of every February, more than 100 countries around the world come together to celebrate <a href="https://safer.connectsafely.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Safer Internet Day.</a> This global day of awareness aims to empower everyone to use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively, especially children and young people.&nbsp;&nbsp;At Gen, Cyber Safety is our focus all year long. Over the past few years, we’ve developed new tools and platforms that address the most common issues that young people face online, from scams to cyberbullying to protecting personal information. We continue to partner with leading nonprofit organizations around the world to provide children, young people and their families with the resources they need to navigate life online with confidence and care.&nbsp;Empowering Kids and Families to Have The Smart Talk&nbsp;Norton, one of our trusted Cyber Safety brands, partners with National PTA to offer <a href="https://thesmarttalk.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Smart Talk</a>, a free resource that helps families have ongoing conversations about how to use the internet responsibly. The platform has grown to more than 12,000 users since launch, and Norton continues to provide technical support, keeping The Smart Talk up to date with the most current information about Cyber Safety best practices. In addition to offering this tool for free online, Norton <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/helping-families-have-a-cyber-safe-school-year" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">makes possible grants to local PTAs</a> to host live PTA Connected: The Smart Talk workshops with parents, children and educators.&nbsp;“The Smart Talk [helped bring] awareness to our families that healthily social media and internet safety is more than just a password,” said one grantee. “This program opened heartfelt, honest conversations and set plans in place to protect one another in an increasingly cyber world.”&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Helping Young People Build Digital Skills&nbsp;Norton also partners with Discovery Education, a global leader in education technology, on <a href="https://mydigitallife.discoveryeducation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">My Digital Life</a>, a multi-language platform dedicated to enhancing Cyber Safety for children in grades 3-8. The platform contains lesson plans, videos and interactive tools for teachers, students and parents that outline the best ways students can avoid viruses, detect misinformation, protect their privacy and more. My Digital Life expanded into schools across the U.K. in 2024, bringing its total reach to more than 264,000 students globally. The free website is now translated into Spanish and Arabic with French and German being added later this year. Learn more about this partnership <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/discovery-education-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">here</a>.&nbsp;In India, Norton works with <a href="https://balrakshabharat.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bal Raksha Bharat</a> (BRB), also known as Save the Children – India, to train schoolteachers on how to instill strong digital habits in their students. Over the past year, the program reached more than <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/save-the-children-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">10,000 students, parents and educators</a> across 40 schools in Pune, Maharashtra and Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, with tailored lessons for students aged 10-12 and 13-16. Since the program launched in 2021, more than 27,600 children have taken online safety classes, while 1,800 teachers and more than 4,600 parents have also received online safety orientation.&nbsp;Additionally, we recognize that not all young people experience the internet in the same way. For example, young women face a unique set of challenges when navigating life online, and we believe they should have resources that address these needs.&nbsp;&nbsp;That’s why we partner with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) to offer <a href="https://www.wagggs.org/en/what-we-do/surf-smart-20/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Surf Smart 2.0</a>, a unique badge-earning program that gives girls and young women aged 5-25 the basics of Cyber Safety and responsible digital decision-making. Between April 2023 and April 2024, WAGGGS estimates that this partnership has reached more than <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/surf-smart-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">42,000 girls and young women</a>, including more than 17,800 who earned the Surf Smart 2.0 badge.&nbsp;In total, since its inception, Surf Smart has empowered over 850,000 young people in over 100 countries, providing them with vital tools to help protect themselves online.&nbsp;We also support The Trevor Project, the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people, who have experienced an <a href="https://www.thetrevorproject.org/blog/transforming-the-trevor-project/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">increased need for the organization’s services</a> in recent months. We provide ongoing support to The Trevor Project’s affirming online community for LGBTQ+ young people. We also co-developed the organization’s <a href="https://www.thetrevorproject.org/resources/guide/online-safety-for-lgbtq-young-people/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Guide to Online Safety for LGBTQ+ Young People</a>, a free digital resource to help queer young people navigate the digital world. The guide was mentioned in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ <a href="https://www.hhs.gov/programs/prevention-and-wellness/mental-health-substance-abuse/national-strategy-suicide-prevention/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">2024 National Strategy for Suicide Prevention</a> as an example of “What Success Looks Like” in specialty resources for particular communities. &nbsp;We hope this year’s Safer Internet Day continues to inspire a better internet for all. Building a better internet for children and young people

January marks Stalking Awareness Month – a time to raise awareness and educate communities about the serious crime of stalking. One in three women and one in six men experience stalking at some point in their lifetimes, with approximately 13.5 million people experiencing stalking <a href="https://www.stalkingawareness.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/General-Stalking-Infographic.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">each year</a> in the United States alone. The most common stalking tactics experienced by victims include technology, through unwanted phone calls, texts, emails and messages.&nbsp;

Stalkerware, monitoring software that is used to discreetly track someone’s device and activities without them knowing, is part of technology-facilitated abuse. The use of stalkerware and tech-abuse are escalating across the globe through tactics like incessant texting or calling, financial abuse, surveillance, tracking devices and spyware that harms and intimidates partners. Like any form of domestic violence, this can lead to severe and lasting physical and mental trauma.&nbsp;Technology can also have a positive impact in the lives of survivors. Survivors can access help and essential tools to maintain their safety and privacy while remaining connected to family and friends. Our long-term partnership with the <a href="https://nnedv.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">National Network to End Domestic Violence</a> (NNEDV) is focused on this. NNEDV offers programs and initiatives that address the complex causes and far-reaching consequences of domestic violence. It also offers information and resources to victims of domestic violence — and empowers survivors as they build new lives. Most recently, we provided $100,000 grants to support NNEDV’s work in 2023, 2024 and 2025.&nbsp;<h2>Our Efforts to Help End Tech-Abuse</h2>Over the last two years, we’ve successfully developed accessible tools and resources and created opportunities for outreach and education about tech safety, to help survivors and advocates address tech-abuse. Below are a few key highlights from our efforts so far.&nbsp;<ul><li>The <a href="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/51dc541ce4b03ebab8c5c88c/t/649f3e27ab709a463e29e702/1688157735739/NNEDV_Norton+Secure+Accounts+Guide.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Securing Devices and Accounts Guide</a>, a privacy- and security-focused resource, addresses survivors’ common concerns about devices and accounts. In less than a year, the guide was viewed more than 8,000 times.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>The <a href="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/51dc541ce4b03ebab8c5c88c/t/662bd1d57985a514ed7e1765/1714147797437/Financial+Abuse+and+Technology_FINAL_Gen.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Financial Abuse and Technology Guide</a> and <a href="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/51dc541ce4b03ebab8c5c88c/t/662bd1a9342f5c37227e2d12/1714147753898/Financial+Abuse+and+Technology+Info_Final.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">infographic</a> helps survivors recognize and understand financial tech abuse. It includes 10 crucial tips to safeguard financial information online.&nbsp;</li><li>Through an innovative collaboration with NNEDV, the <a href="https://www.safesheltercollaborative.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Safe Shelter Collaborative</a> and TechSoup, one of our trusted Cyber Safety brands, Norton, has <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/product-donations-domestic-violence" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">provided free product licenses</a> (Norton 360 Deluxe and Norton Secure VPN) to help survivors recover from financial or technological abuse.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>With our support, NNEDV’s Safety Net team held its 12th annual three-day Technology Summit, focused on the intersection of technology and domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and trafficking. &nbsp;</li></ul>

<ul><li>Avast, another of our trusted Cyber Safety brands, offers <a href="https://www.avast.com/en-us/lp-ppc-aone-compare" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Avast One</a>, free software that keeps people private and secure online, with antivirus, VPN and firewall, as well as clean-up, speed-up and privacy tools.&nbsp;</li><li>Norton, Avast, and Avira are proud members of the <a href="https://stopstalkerware.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Coalition Against Stalkerware</a>, which works to keep malicious technology, like stalkerware, out of the hands of abusers.&nbsp;</li></ul><h2>Expanding Our Reach&nbsp;</h2>In 2025, we’re working withNNEDV to make these resources even more widely accessible and digestible. This will include videos focused on financial abuse and technology and about securing devices and accounts.
