Before we leave the house or head out of town, we check the weather. We look at the forecast then decide what to do next. What if we had a similar way to check the digital forecast and see where cyber threats are brewing before they land in your inbox, your feed or your phone?

The Fearless Planet Index (FPI) does just that.

The FPI transforms billions of real-world security signals from Gen Threat Labs into an interactive view of the scams and threats shaping life online around the world.

It brings an immense stream of real-time threat intelligence into one place, helping more people see what’s emerging and better understand what they may encounter – before they encounter it.

    Threat intelligence, made practical

Threat intelligence is the backbone of our work at Gen. Every day, Gen Threat Labs analyzes signals from around the world to identify emerging risks and understand how the threat landscape is evolving. That intelligence powers protection across our brands—Norton, Avast, LifeLock and MoneyLion — but also fuels a body of research and insights that help people better understand and prepare for the world around them.

From our Gen Threat Reports, which track emerging cyber threats and trends, and the Norton Insights Report, which explores how technology is shaping people’s everyday lives, we regularly turn that research into practical, human-centered guidance people can use.

The FPI is the next evolution of this work. It puts billions of signals and data points together in one place and provides a continuous, global view of the digital threat landscape, making it easier for anyone to understand what threats are emerging and changing over time.

A digital forecast for everyday life

The FPI is designed to make threat intelligence useful for anyone, anywhere. People can:

    • Select a country to explore its most prominent scams, malware threats and identity alerts
    • See whether each threat or alert has increased, decreased, remained stable or newly emerging since the day before
    • Open detailed profiles explaining each threat or alert, with guidance to help people protect themselves

It's a resource built not just for anyone trying to make sense of an increasingly complicated digital world. From security professionals, to parents, students, small business owners, it’s a timely way to see what threats are showing up where you live or are traveling to. Because we know understanding the risks is often the first step toward avoiding them.

What the data is already telling us

The FPI tracks threats across 245 countries and territories, providing a global view of the trends and patterns emerging in the threat landscape. The data is already painting a picture of how digital risk differs around the world:

    • Phishing is the most prevalent scam category globally, with 120M+ phishing attacks detected in the latest 30-day snapshot.
    • Online shopping scams are among the most common scams in the United States, with dating scams on the rise in Czechia, Germany and other parts of Europe.
    • North America recorded the highest average digital risk (29.6%), followed closely by Europe (28.5%), Asia-Pacific (27.4%), Middle East & Africa (25.6%) and Latin America (22%).

In addition to these high-level trends, people can dig into country-level findings and understand which threats are currently most prominent where they live, providing valuable context for the messages, offers and interactions they encounter online.

    Knowledge is part of protection

People everywhere deserve more visibility into the digital world they navigate every day. The same intelligence that helps Gen understand the evolving threat landscape can also help people recognize risks earlier, strengthen their digital confidence and make safer decisions online.

The Fearless Planet Index represents a new way of sharing that intelligence – bringing together our global threat expertise, research capabilities and consumer insights in one place.

Because protection shouldn't stop with our products. By making this information freely available, we can help individuals, families, schools and organizations better understand the threats around them and what they can do about them.
