Every year on March 8, International Women’s Day invites us to celebrate the long history of women’s social, economic and cultural progress while recognizing the work still ahead — including in the digital world.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Technology has opened new doors for connection, learning and opportunity. Yet it has also introduced new risks. According to UN Women, technology-facilitated violence against women and girls is on the rise, with <a href="https://www.unwomen.org/en/digital-library/publications/2024/10/intensification-of-efforts-to-eliminate-all-forms-of-violence-against-women-report-of-the-secretary-general-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">studies</a> showing that as many as 58% have experienced forms of digital abuse, including hacking, stalking, and online harassment.&nbsp; &nbsp;At Gen, we believe the internet should be safe for everyone. That belief drives our partnership with the <a href="https://www.wagggs.org/en/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts</a> (WAGGGS), a global movement reaching millions of girls and young women.&nbsp;&nbsp;Together with WAGGGS, Norton, part of the Gen family of brands, codeveloped <a href="https://www.wagggs.org/en/what-we-do/surf-smart-20/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Surf Smart</a>, a nonformal education program that has reached more than 850,000 girls and young women worldwide with digital safety resources to date. In early 2026, WAGGGS launched the next evolution of this work: <a href="https://www.wagggs.org/en/news/advocacy-for-generation-digital-a4gd-launches-to-support-youth-led-action-for-a-safer-digital-world/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Advocacy for Generation Digital</a>.&nbsp;<h2>Moving From Education to Action&nbsp;</h2>Advocacy for Generation Digital builds on Surf Smart 2.0 and helps girls and young women transform knowledge into leadership. The curriculum supports participants as they identify digital issues that matter most to them, strengthen research and communication skills and design advocacy campaigns that promote safer and more inclusive online spaces. &nbsp;The program offers learning pathways for elementary, middle and high school students and can be adapted to local contexts. It is available in English, French, Spanish and Arabic. WAGGGS also provides <a href="https://campfire.wagggs.org/topic/grant-application-advocacy-generation-digital-2026?_gl=1*1huf6ak*_ga*MzAyNTY1NDA5LjE3NjI1NjA1OTQ.*_ga_T1311503CC*czE3NzA5MjQzMzMkbzEwJGcxJHQxNzcwOTI0ODY5JGo2MCRsMCRoMA.." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">advocacy grants</a> to Member Organizations, helping bring youth-led projects to life in communities around the world.&nbsp;The impact of youth advocacy is already clear. In 2023 and 2024, young women in 10 countries launched campaigns addressing digital inclusion and online safety. Some organized public panels. Others engaged local media. Sophia Nabbale and Ronah Akatukunda from Uganda presented at the United Nations Civil Society Conference 2024 in Nairobi, highlighting the intergenerational digital divide and the fight against online violence.&nbsp;“Gen and WAGGGS share a vision for digital life," said Leena Elias, Chief Product Officer at Gen. "We believe the internet can be place where young people learn, connect and express themselves safely. Advocacy for Generation Digital is another step toward bringing that vision to life, empowering girls and young women to shape digital spaces that reflect their needs and aspirations.”&nbsp;<h2>Preparing the Next Generation for an AI-Driven World</h2>Our partnership continues to evolve with technology. In 2025, Surf Smart 2.0 was updated to include new modules on artificial intelligence. Participants explore how AI shows up in their daily lives, from chatbots to content recommendations, and learn how to set responsible boundaries with emerging tools.&nbsp; &nbsp;Throughout 2026, Gen and WAGGGS are also amplifying the voices of program participants — sharing firsthand accounts from Smart Surfers and Advocacy Champions about what they’ve learned and how they are leading change in their communities.&nbsp;

When it comes to building strong financial habits, the sooner we start, the better. That’s why Gen works with nonprofit partners all around the world to equip young people and their families with practical digital safety and financial educational materials. It’s also why we’re excited to announce that we’ve joined the <a href="https://www.jumpstart.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jump$tart Coalition</a>. As a National Partner, we work collaboratively to move financial literacy forward through shared resources and expertise.&nbsp;These days, financial wellness and digital wellness are inseparable. Navigating life online increasingly means protecting against identity theft, fraud, and financial scams—risks that can derail financial stability before it even begins. We believe helping young people navigate digital life also means helping them safeguard their financial futures, and we’re proud to support the Jump$tart Coalition in their mission to advance financial literacy skills for students across the U.S.&nbsp; &nbsp;Providing students with high-quality financial education&nbsp;The Jump$tart Coalition works with more than 100 partners at the national and state level to develop educational resources about financial wellness for students of all ages. The organization created, along with the Council for Economic Education, the <a href="https://www.jumpstart.org/education/national-standards/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">National Standards for Personal Financial Education</a>, which guide educators and policymakers to create and implement effective financial education for K-12 students. Jump$tart has maintained the standards since 1998, offering regular updates to include the latest information and best practices. Together, these standards help ensure students receive consistent, high-quality financial education no matter where they live or learn.&nbsp;&nbsp;The organization also operates a series of programs designed to empower educators with the tools they need to raise students’ awareness of financial wellness principles. These include the annual <a href="https://www.jumpstart.org/education/nec/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jump$tart National Educator Conference</a>, convening K-12 teachers from across the U.S. for three days of professional development and knowledge sharing, and the free <a href="https://www.jumpstart.org/education/jsffe/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jump$tart Financial Foundations for Educators</a> course for teachers to improve their financial education expertise.&nbsp;&nbsp;The <a href="https://jumpstartclearinghouse.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jump$tart Clearinghouse</a> provides a free database of vetted financial education curricula, activities and lesson plans geared toward teachers, families, education advocates and researchers. Each resource is aligned with the National Standards for Personal Financial Education. Additionally, Jump$tart’s <a href="https://www.jumpstart.org/education/reality-check/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Reality Check</a> tool helps students who are entering the workforce calculate their expenses and set financial goals. Jump$tart is also the primary promoter of Financial Literacy Month each April, a nationwide campaign to promote financial literacy and education.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Empowering financial wellness across the U.S.&nbsp;Our partnership with Jump$tart builds on Gen’s broader commitment to advancing financial wellness and consumer protection. We are a longtime supporter of <a href="https://lifesmarts.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">LifeSmarts</a>, a program of the National Consumers League (NCL). This free consumer literacy competition and scholarship opportunity helps provide young people with skills in personal finance, consumer rights and more critical areas. The program also regularly develops free study guides, podcasts and other <a href="https://lifesmarts.org/studysmart-guides/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">educational resources</a> on financial topics, such as saving, investing, banking and fraud.&nbsp; &nbsp;These efforts are complemented by the work MoneyLion, part of the Gen family of brands, is doing to expand access to personalized financial tools and education. Through its <a href="https://www.moneylion.com/learn/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Money 101 page</a> and products focused on credit management and wealth building, MoneyLion helps hundreds of thousands of people better understand and improve their financial lives.&nbsp;&nbsp;Together, these partnerships reflect Gen’s commitment to helping people build safer, more resilient digital and financial lives—starting early and extending into adulthood. Gen announces new partnership with Jump$tart Coalition

Helping young people build strong financial habits

Scams have become one of the most pervasive threats in today’s digital world. They are no longer isolated attempts of deception, but organized, fast-moving, personal and increasingly powered by AI. The result is a growing wave of financial and emotional harm that cuts across age, income, and geography.&nbsp;Gen released a <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/media/fc5br3yb/us-scam-paper-digital.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">policy paper</a> outlining clear recommendations for how US policymakers can help turn the tide against scam networks targeting Americans. From improved data protection to increased coordination with law enforcement, the recommendations reflect Gen’s long-standing commitment to protecting consumers online.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Policymakers are paying attention&nbsp;In January, the US Senate’s Special Committee on Aging held a <a href="https://www.aging.senate.gov/hearings/made-in-china-paid-by-seniors-stopping-the-surge-of-international-scams" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">hearing </a>focused on international scams targeting older Americans. This group remains one of the most vulnerable to financial fraud, often losing life savings to carefully constructed schemes that exploit trust and emotional connections. At Gen, protecting older adults has always been a focus, and we continue our commitment as increased attention and resources are improving understanding and responses to these targeted scams.&nbsp;The committee’s focus on elder fraud reinforces the urgency behind Gen’s recommendations. National awareness campaigns, stronger enforcement tools, and improved coordination across agencies are critical steps to address the scale of these scams and protect our most vulnerable. As threats continue to evolve, policy solutions must keep pace.&nbsp;

How Gen is leading the way&nbsp;Gen leaders have joined a number of recent engagements in Washington to advance understanding of scams and promote policy solutions, including participation in the Global Anti-Scam Alliance's <a href="https://www.gasa.org/event-details/global-anti-scam-summit-gass-america-2025" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">North American Anti‑Scam Summit</a> in December. &nbsp;Here, Gen leaders joined cybersecurity experts from across the industry to share insights on systemic approaches to scam prevention and the growing risks of AI-enabled fraud.&nbsp;Gen is also collaborating with members of Congress through the bipartisan Stop Scams Caucus to reinforce why a coordinated federal response is essential. These include phishing schemes, impersonation campaigns, fraudulent investment scams, and AI‑assisted social engineering that uses stolen personal information to deceive victims in highly convincing ways.&nbsp;Traditional approaches to cybercrime are not sufficient on their own. Criminal networks now operate across borders, using sophisticated tools that exploit gaps in information sharing and law enforcement capabilities. Gen’s policy proposals are designed to address these gaps with practical approaches, including:&nbsp;<ul type="disc"><li data-list-item-id="e744f71629c64a606ceff9a8c184c09df">Expanded public awareness campaigns to inform the public about common scam techniques and how to avoid them.&nbsp;</li><li data-list-item-id="efd4b095a540508a5351d55549d3b6718">Enhanced collaboration between technology companies and federal law enforcement to accelerate investigations into transnational fraud networks.&nbsp;</li><li data-list-item-id="e2d4cc9635900776aa7b2be6b7182b9f5">Support for stronger consumer protection standards that help reduce the harm caused by identity theft and financial fraud.&nbsp;</li></ul>Each of these recommendations is rooted in what we see every day: real threats, real victims, and clear opportunities to strengthen digital safety for all.&nbsp;A path forward&nbsp;Scam prevention requires coordinated action from all parts of society. Technology companies can innovate new defenses, educators can help people recognize risks, and policymakers can adopt frameworks that align incentives and strengthen protections at the national level.&nbsp;&nbsp;As the conversation in Washington evolves, Gen will continue working with federal leaders, consumer advocates, and industry partners to promote practical, effective policy solutions. Our focus will remain on helping ensure that protections keep pace with threats and that Americans can navigate the digital world with confidence.&nbsp;

Every year, more than 100 countries around the world celebrate <a href="https://safer.connectsafely.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Safer Internet Day</a>, a global effort to help people use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively — especially children and young people.&nbsp;&nbsp;At Gen, digital freedom is at the core of what we do. Helping people stay safe online through education and training is a key pillar of our social impact strategy. We partner with nonprofits across the globe to equip families, educators and young people with the tools they need to navigate an increasingly complex digital world with confidence.&nbsp; As technology evolves, we regularly update our resources to reflect emerging platforms, technologies such as AI, and changing behaviors. Together with our partners, we are strengthening digital resilience, safeguarding personal information and advancing digital literacy at scale.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;Empowering families to talk about digital safety&nbsp;Parents and caregivers play a critical role in shaping healthy digital habits. That’s why National PTA and Norton, one of our trusted Cyber Safety brands, developed <a href="https://thesmarttalk.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Smart Talk</a>. This free resource helps families start open, positive conversations about online safety and privacy. Through guided prompts and practical tips, The Smart Talk supports families in setting boundaries, understanding risks and building trust together. Since launch, more than 20,000 people have accessed The Smart Talk.&nbsp;It is a featured resource in National PTA’s <a href="https://safer.connectsafely.org/national-pta-resources/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Safer Internet Day toolkit</a>, which also includes a <a href="https://safer.connectsafely.org/family-program/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">live conversation</a> on digital parenting, teen-focused tip sheets and resources on mental health and belonging. The Smart Talk is also a signature offering of <a href="https://www.pta.org/home/programs/connected" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">PTA Connected</a>, an initiative designed to create judgment-free spaces where families can learn about digital safety with guidance from expert resources. Norton is the Founding and Presenting Sponsor of PTA Connected and, in 2025, sponsored grants for 20 local PTAs, enabling them to host digital safety workshops in their school communities.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bringing digital safety into the classroom&nbsp;&nbsp;We also work with our partners to get digital safety resources into the hands of educators. Since 2023, Norton has worked with Discovery Education on <a href="https://mydigitallife.discoveryeducation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">My Digital Life</a>, a multilingual platform offering digital safety activities and lesson plans for children in grades three through eight. In 2025, we introduced <a href="https://mydigitallife.discoveryeducation.com/animated-topic-series" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">new AI literacy content</a>, expanded the program into schools across the UK and added Spanish, Arabic, French and German translations. Discovery Education estimates the program has now reached nearly 490,000 students with essential digital safety skills.&nbsp;&nbsp;Gen also supports Discovery Education’s <a href="https://digitalcitizenship.discoveryeducation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Digital Citizenship Initiative</a>, which promotes respectful and responsible online behavior. Since launching in February 2025, the initiative has reached more than 647,000 students through videos, classroom tools, lesson plans and educator resources focused on AI literacy, media literacy and the cognitive impacts of technology. &nbsp;Advancing digital safety around the world&nbsp;Our global partnerships reflect the unique digital safety needs of communities worldwide. Gen celebrates Safer Internet Day with our nonprofit partners

Working together for a better internet

January is National Stalking Awareness Month, a time each year to acknowledge and educate about the dangers of stalking, which increasingly includes cyberstalking and other forms of tech-facilitated harassment. A 2025 <a href="https://academic.oup.com/bjc/advance-article/doi/10.1093/bjc/azaf064/8216857?login=false" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">study</a> led by researchers at University College London found that cyberstalking is growing at a faster rate than traditional stalking and that cyberstalking often disproportionately affects women. &nbsp;&nbsp;At Gen, we believe that everyone should be able to navigate the digital world safely and confidently. That’s why we have long partnered with the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) to develop resources that help survivors recognize and recover from tech-related abuse, including stalking, identity theft, financial abuse and more. The organization estimates that these resources served nearly 600,000 survivors since the start of our work together.&nbsp;&nbsp;Providing Survivors with Digital Safety Tools&nbsp;&nbsp;Together with NNEDV, we provide resources to survivors, allies, service providers and shelter staff to enable them with critical information about tech-related abuse and digital safety. Here are a few highlights from our work together:&nbsp;&nbsp;<ul><li><a href="https://www.techsafety.org/securingdevicesaccounts" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Securing Devices and Accounts,</a> a co-branded resource from NNEDV and our Cyber Safety brand, Norton, goes through the basics of digital security and privacy, tailored to the needs of and risks faced by survivors.</li><li><a href="https://www.techsafety.org/financial-abuse-and-technology" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Financial Abuse and Technology</a>, another co-branded resource, explains the growing role that crimes like identity theft, controlling funds and fraud play in domestic violence.</li><li>Norton sponsored and contributed speakers to <a href="https://nnedv.org/content/safety-nets-virtual-tech-summit-2025/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NNEDV’s Virtual Tech Summit</a>, a three-day conference that convened tech leaders and domestic violence survivor advocates to discuss safety planning, intimate image abuse, AI, stalkerware, online data, tech policy and tech-facilitated advocacy.</li><li>Gen leaders Kim Allman and Iskander Sanchez-Rola participated in NNEDV’s webinar, “<a href="https://events.techsoup.org/events/details/techsoup-techsoup-events-and-webinars-presents-increasing-privacy-online-supporting-survivors-of-domestic-violence-in-the-digital-age/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Increasing Privacy Online: Supporting Survivors of Domestic Violence in the Digital Age</a>,” discussing why online privacy is important to survivors, which cybersecurity tools can help and more.</li><li><a href="https://www.techsafety.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Safety Net Project</a>, NNEDV’s broad initiative to combat tech-related abuse, conducted various trainings on digital safety and privacy in 2025, including a webinar in partnership with Norton and TechSoup.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>The Safety Net also developed multiple new resources on <a href="https://www.techsafety.org/the-safety-net-survivors-guide-to-ai" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">how AI can impact survivors</a> and “<a href="https://www.techsafety.org/documentationtips" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Documentation Tips for Survivors of Technology Abuse &amp; Stalking</a>,” designed to support survivors in documenting their experiences and safety planning. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Collectively, these resources served thousands of people in 2025. Additionally, beginning in 2024, Gen partnered with <a href="https://www.techsoup.org/norton?srsltid=AfmBOopympdRWUwsvoll4kigMFL-pDan4L5EVMAcWT36mGgS-0sSeP4D" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">TechSoup</a> to donate Norton 360 Deluxe and Norton Secure VPN to domestic violence survivors. Between April and December 2025, the program provided nearly 2,000 free Norton product licenses to help survivors recover from financial or other technological abuse, a collective retail value of more than $200,000. The <a href="https://www.safesheltercollaborative.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Safe Shelter Collaborative</a> receives the licenses from TechSoup and in turn delivers the products to survivors through its network of member organizations. NNEDV also collaborates on the donation program.&nbsp;</li></ul>&nbsp;Supporting Survivors on a Global Scale&nbsp;&nbsp;NNEDV also continued to raise awareness internationally in 2025. A strong culture of giving has always been part of who we are at Gen. Our Purpose to Power Digital Freedom extends beyond our products and shows up in the ways our people invest in their communities, support one another and take action on the issues that matter most. This year, we continued to build on that commitment through programs designed to make giving easier and more personal for every employee.&nbsp;Collectively, our holiday giving efforts resulted in nearly $579,000 in donations to more than 2,000 causes, with roughly 72% of team members across the company participating, the highest participation rate in Gen’s history. Additionally, Gen sites around the world volunteered to support seniors, children and community members in need.&nbsp;

Empowering Employees to Give with #WeAreGenerous&nbsp;Each November, our global team comes together for #WeAreGENerous, Gen’s annual initiative to spark giving where we live and work. To kick off the campaign, Gen launched its third Geneversary Awards, celebrating Gen’s anniversary as a company and giving every employee $50 to donate to a charity of their choice, with this year’s campaign . garnering $230,000 in total donations. Employee participation has steadily increased every year since the first #WeAreGENerous campaign in 2023, with this year’s rate—72%— being the highest we’ve ever achieved. &nbsp;We also hosted 10 Days of Generosity, providing teams with daily, actionable prompts to donate locally, schedule volunteer time, share a community resource, recognize a colleague and more. Employees were encouraged to complete one action per day and tracked their progress through the Gen Giving Hub, making it easy to engage and stay connected to our collective impact.&nbsp;&nbsp;Building on this momentum, on Giving Tuesday Gen doubled its company match for employee donations from 1:1 to 2:1 and raised the match maximum by $1,000 per person. The campaign totaled $349,000 for more than 400 global causes.&nbsp;Additionally, our colleagues at MoneyLion spread the spirit of giving to their audience on social media, running a seven-day campaign during the week of Thanksgiving that asked followers to share positive messages and what about MoneyLion they’re thankful for. MoneyLion spotlighted the most inspiring responses throughout the week and selected three winners to receive $300 gift cards.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Practicing Generosity, Locally&nbsp;Throughout the holiday season, team members across our global sites also came together to reach out to their neighbors and address their communities’ unique needs. In Dublin, 20 volunteers worked with people experiencing homelessness, and more than 50 additional employees donated gifts to children in need. And in India, colleagues in Chennai and Pune celebrated Diwali by collecting gifts for local children and delivering them to elementary schools in the region. &nbsp;We also give back throughout the year through <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/passion-to-purpose" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Passion to Purpose</a>. Through this initiative, employees can turn their interests into action by applying for grants or organizing volunteer projects that support nonprofit partners, putting the company’s reach and resources behind the causes that matter to them. For example, the team at our MoneyLion office in Kuala Lumpur recently planned a hands-on volunteer experience to support indigenous communities and other community members in Peninsular Malaysia, and our colleagues at our office in Chennai, India, organized a workshop for creating inclusive environments for people with disabilities.&nbsp;&nbsp;Serving Our Communities Year-Round&nbsp;We’re proud that our teams continue to serve their communities well beyond the end of the holiday season. Survey data from Gen shows that more than a third (35%) of Americans have been targeted by a scam this year, with 74% of victims being financially impacted. During the holiday season, those threats rise even higher. Fake shopping sites, spoofed delivery notices and too-good-to-be-true online deals all surge as scammers take advantage of busy, distracted consumers.&nbsp;From the trusted technology made by our cybersecurity brands like Avast, which recently wrapped up its <a href="https://blog.avast.com/do-you-see-what-i-see-avast-unwraps-top-holiday-scams-in-festive-new-youtube-series" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">12 Days of Scam-mas campaign</a>, to nonprofits reaching vulnerable communities, we’re committed to making sure everyone has the tools to stay safe across all corners of their digital lives.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Teaming Up to Increase Access to Critical Resources&nbsp;A key partner in our work to combat online scams is the <a href="https://www.idtheftcenter.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Identity Theft Resource Center</a> (ITRC), which helps prevent and reduce the impact of identity theft, scams and fraud.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We collaborate with ITRC throughout the year to highlight specific risks to personal data, including mobile scams, romance scams and impersonation phishing. In December, ITRC partnered with Gen on a downloadable PDF that shares tips on how to protect yourself and your identity during the holiday season. ITRC will also include a year-end roundup of how to recognize common scams on its <a href="https://www.idtheftcenter.org/podcasts/?_sft_podcast_type=fraudian" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fraudian Slip</a> podcast, a recurring monthly feature on the organization’s main <a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/idtheftcenter/id1543301596" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">podcast feed</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We also support <a href="https://nclnet.org/lifesmarts/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">LifeSmarts</a>, the National Consumers League’s flagship youth consumer education program, which empowers teens with real-world knowledge, fraud prevention skills and critical thinking tools to make safe and informed decisions in today’s digital and consumer marketplace. Gen’s support not only allows for financial literacy content development for students in high school and college; it also underwrites scholarships for LifeSmarts participants and alumni. &nbsp;&nbsp;Sharing Anti-Scam Expertise with Industry Peers&nbsp;Gen also invests in the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) and recently joined their North America Summit. This Summit brings together leaders in finance, government and cybersecurity to share best practices and advance digital safety. Our flagship&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wagggs.org/en/news/surf-smart-20-launches-new-content-on-artificial-intelligence-and-digital-wellbeing/">Surf Smart 2.0</a> program is a badge-earning course that helps empower girls and young women with digital safety skills. This program was recently updated to include content on understanding AI and using it responsibly.&nbsp;Participants now explore where AI shows up in their online lives—from lifestyle recommendations to chatbots and voice assistants. They discuss how AI shapes what they see, how to think critically about information on their screens and how to spot misinformation. The curriculum also looks at appearance pressure and digital wellbeing, encouraging participants to reflect on how edited images and algorithms make them feel, how to set boundaries with their devices and how to protect their wellbeing while staying connected. Our partnership with Discovery Education also continues to grow with new AI-focused content launching soon as part of the&nbsp;<a href="https://mydigitallife.discoveryeducation.com/">My Digital Life</a> series. This digital literacy program, created in collaboration with Norton and the National Afterschool Association, gives students practical insights about online safety and media literacy. The new animated series introduces Artie Fischal, a fictional character who helps students explore how AI can generate text, images and audio. Through stories and classroom-ready resources, students see both the creative potential of AI and the need to pause, ask questions and check sources before they act.<h2>Leading Responsibly in the AI Age</h2>For Gen, AI isn’t just a tool— it’s a responsibility. Every October, Cybersecurity Awareness Month helps spotlight simple ways people can better protect themselves online. From regular software updates to learning how to spot scams, sometimes the easiest steps can make the biggest difference in the fight to keep our personal data safe and secure.&nbsp;&nbsp;At Gen, we’re sharing digital safety tips through a series of new campaigns with our nonprofit partners, to share the most up-to-date information on how to protect the digital and financial lives of people around the world.&nbsp;&nbsp;<h2>Promoting Strong Identity Hygiene&nbsp;</h2>We partner with the <a href="https://www.idtheftcenter.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Identity Theft Resource Center</a> (ITRC) to highlight specific risks to personal data and how to combat them. For Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we’re focusing on mobile-based scams—why our devices are such common targets for scammers and what we do to protect against them.&nbsp;&nbsp;Many of the same cybersecurity tips that apply to personal computers are helpful for mobile devices: keeping your software up to date, setting complex passwords, and steering clear of phishing scams. But mobile devices can be vulnerable to a range of unique threats, like fraudulent apps from unauthorized stores and lapsed privacy settings on social media. Visit ITRC’s recent <a href="https://www.idtheftcenter.org/post/cybersecurity-awareness-month/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">blog post</a> for more background and to learn what to do if your device is compromised.&nbsp;&nbsp;Tips like these are part of a broader campaign to promote identity hygiene and raise awareness of safe cyber practices for long-term financial wellness, which we believe is more than just budgeting and saving. Identity theft can be a major financial disruptor and learning how to identify scams and protect against cybercrimes are essential tools for financial resilience. &nbsp;<h2>Informing and Empowering Domestic Violence Survivors&nbsp;</h2>Together with the <a href="https://nnedv.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">National Network to End Domestic Violence</a> (NNEDV), a national voice in the United States for domestic violence survivors and their advocates, we’ve joined the fight against technology abuse, a growing component of domestic violence that often includes online stalking, identity theft or financial abuse.&nbsp;&nbsp;For both Cybersecurity Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’ve launched a new <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/posts/national-network-to-end-domestic-violence_dvam-csam-activity-7379879030046531585-KLuy?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop&amp;rcm=ACoAAAFtbI0B8PsFXlFu9p7Fy9WC_jon5VUXPlk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Digital Safety Toolkit</a>, with specific tips for survivors dealing with various forms of technology abuse.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Additionally, our <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/product-donations-domestic-violence" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">donation program</a> through our partnership with <a href="https://www.techsoup.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">TechSoup</a> has provided more than 3,700 Norton product licenses to domestic violence survivors across the U.S. TechSoup helps facilitate the donations to the <a href="https://www.safesheltercollaborative.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Safe Shelter Collaborative</a>, which in turn delivers the products to survivors through its network of member organizations.  &nbsp;The donated products include Norton 360 Deluxe, which can prevent activity or location tracking, information theft, installation of malicious programs and uninvited changes to devices, and Norton Secure VPN, which protects people’s online privacy by hiding the computer’s address from websites visited from any device.&nbsp;<h2>Bolstering the Cybersecurity Talent Pipeline&nbsp;</h2>As the rate of change in the technology industry continues to accelerate, the need grows for a robust cybersecurity workforce equipped with the skills necessary to keep pace with those changes. To close those skills gaps, we work with organizations like <a href="https://women4cyber.eu/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Women4Cyber</a> to provide women across Europe with training, mentorship, webinars and other educational resources to enter cybersecurity and other IT careers.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;This month, Women4Cyber is spotlighting Gen as an employer of choice for many of the women who graduate from their training and mentorship programs. Gen works with nonprofit partners during Cybersecurity Awareness Month to promote and provide online safety

Easy-to-Use Digital Safety Tips

Last year, more than 67% of our team members participated in our volunteering and giving programs, logging 8,300 hours globally for the causes that matter to them. This showcases just how much Team Gen values giving in our communities. As we challenge ourselves to expand our programs, we listened to employee feedback to make community service easier and more personal to local needs. &nbsp;We’re excited to introduce Passion to Purpose, the newest addition to our suite of volunteering and giving opportunities. This program allows employees all over the world to apply for Gen grants, which go to a nonprofit of their choice, and organize volunteer projects using the company’s reach and resources. &nbsp;&nbsp;Together with our ongoing mentorship programs, which help employees put their skills and expertise to use in service to others; Passion to Purpose helps employees lead with heart, take bold action and drive lasting impact. &nbsp;Passion to purpose drives global impact&nbsp;In its first few weeks, Passion to Purpose has inspired employees to organize projects based on local needs. At our office in Chennai, India, our team members partnered with <a href="https://giftabled.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">GiftAbled</a> to host a workshop on creating an inclusive environment for people with disabilities. More than 30 employees attended the session, which also included an Indian Sign Language training.&nbsp;&nbsp;Additionally, our MoneyLion office in Kuala Lumpur planned a hands-on volunteer experience to support indigenous communities and other community members in Peninsular Malaysia. The team partnered with local organization <a href="https://epic.my/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">EPIC</a> (Extraordinary People Impacting Communities), bringing together 70 employees for a two-day interactive workshop called The Good Builder. &nbsp;Guided by experts, the MoneyLion team were trained to use various hand and power tools. This training enabled them to assemble 32 chairs, 32 tables, and six bookshelves for students at the Subang Bestari 2 National School, fulfilling a critical need for safe, sturdy classroom furniture. The training also certifies MoneyLion volunteers for future builds with EPIC Homes, a program that provides indigenous communities in Malaysia with safe homes that can be built in just three days. &nbsp;Gen supported both events through grant funding and paid time off for team members to volunteer.&nbsp;

Cyber skills for the next generation&nbsp;Through Passion to Purpose, Gen team members are also taking advantage of multiple opportunities to use their skills to volunteer, often in the form of mentorship programs to support students and emerging tech professionals.&nbsp;&nbsp;Through our partnership with <a href="https://www.gendigital.com/blog/impact/community/hbcu-heroes-2024" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HBCU Heroes</a>, Gen volunteers meet quarterly with students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) that are about to enter the workforce. The most recent session focused on mapping out students’ desired career journeys, and the final session will include mock interviews and prep for job hunting as students embark on their professional lives. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition, we hosted a reverse mentoring session with GirlBoss New Zealand. Gen provided full scholarships to 31 students, allowing them to attend the organization’s 10-day school holiday program. Through the program, young women were provided with a mentor and growth opportunities to build their confidence and leadership skills. We have also teamed up with <a href="https://latinageeks.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">#LatinaGeeks</a> for workshops during National Hispanic Heritage Month to help Latinas build confidence and sharpen their professional communication and public speaking skills.&nbsp;These efforts complement our signature partnerships with <a href="https://women4cyber.eu/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Women4Cyber</a> and <a href="https://www.czechitas.cz/kurzy/digitalni-akademie-data" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Czechitas</a> to close the cybersecurity talent gap. Digital citizenship programs help students all over the world become the leaders of tomorrow through building their skills to safely and effectively leverage technology in our digital-first world. Recent studies from <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/sites/default/files/featured-content/files/digital-citizenship-curriculum-impact-report_june-2024.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Common Sense Media</a> and <a href="https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s40688-023-00465-5" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Contemporary School Psychology</a> documented benefits not just to students’ digital know-how but also their critical thinking and social skills. The more we depend on technology, the better we need to serve our students by giving them the tools to thrive in the digital world.&nbsp;&nbsp;That’s why we’re proud to celebrate two years of impact through our partnership with <a href="https://www.discoveryeducation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Discovery Education</a>, the creator of essential PreK-12 learning solutions used in classrooms around the world. Together with the <a href="https://naaweb.org/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">National Afterschool Association</a>, we created <a href="https://mydigitallife.discoveryeducation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">My Digital Life</a>, a free platform that provides grade 3-8 educators with lesson plans, videos and interactive tools meant to address common issues young people face online, from cyberbullying and privacy risks to misinformation and scams.&nbsp;&nbsp;This fall, we’re also excited to launch new curricula focused on AI and join Discovery Education’s <a href="https://digitalcitizenship.discoveryeducation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Digital Citizenship</a> initiative, a nationwide effort to put resources about media literacy and digital safety into the hands of teachers, administrators, parents, families, caregivers and more.&nbsp;&nbsp;Building Students’ Digital Safety Skills&nbsp;In the 2024-2025 school year alone, My Digital Life reached more than 180,000 students in 652school districts across 46 states. Roughly 59% of these students were from Title I schools, which are districts allocated federal funds for education programs and schools that close achievement gaps.&nbsp;&nbsp;The program also launched internationally, expanding into schools across the United Kingdom and offering content in Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, French and German. These combined efforts bring the total number of students reached to nearly 415,000 in just two years. &nbsp;Keeping Pace with New Technologies&nbsp;Norton, one of our trusted Cyber Safety brands, not only offers technical support for My Digital Life but also consults on curriculum development as new digital trends and technologies emerge, including artificial intelligence (AI). Discovery Ed’s new video series introduces students to “Artie Fischal,” the character who will help illustrate how to use AI responsibly and safely. Lessons will cover the benefits of AI—such as how it can help with productivity and efficiency—as well as what today’s students need to be aware of, including algorithm bias, inaccurate responses and privacy/safety concerns.&nbsp;&nbsp;Supporting Nonprofits and Community Organizations&nbsp;In addition to our signature digital education and training partnerships, we also support education organizations in communities all over the world through volunteering, giving and product donations. Recently, we donated <a href="https://www.avast.com/en-us/business/products/essential#mac" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Avast Essential Business Security</a> to <a href="https://www.srec.education/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Shree Raj Education Centre</a>, which provides schooling in a remote, rural region of Maharashtra, India.
