A year ago, we launched Passion to Purpose with a simple idea: our people know where they can make a difference in their own communities. We began giving employees more ways to turn the causes they care about into action, with the support and resources to let them lead.

As we mark the program’s first anniversary, Team Gen has put that idea into action. Employees have supported the Special Olympics in the Czech Republic, created community and connection in the United States, and brought awareness to the importance of digital safety in Ireland.

Different places. Different needs. One shared instinct to bring their heart and hustle to projects that respond to local initiatives.

Passion to Purpose shows what can happen when local knowledge meets employee passion and a company is willing to back both.

    Our people know their communities
Passion to Purpose starts with our employees. They see needs in their communities, know the organizations doing good work and bring ideas for how they can help.

Gen helps turn those ideas into action through grants, volunteer time and company resources. The result is a program that can look different everywhere — because every community is different.

    Bringing local ideas to life
We've seen employees across regions take part:

    • In the Czech Republic, a Gen-sponsored team participated in races with Special Olympics Czechia, an annual sporting competition that typically hosts 200 to 300 athletes with intellectual disabilities, helping them gain confidence and a sense of belonging.
    • Thirty Gen employees in Tempe, Arizona, attended a Pride Month event hosted in partnership with The SEEN, a Phoenix-based nonprofit dedicated to creating community, support and a sense of belonging for BIPOC LGBTQIA+ individuals. The event was an opportunity for employee learning and fun, leaving many inspired to think about how to show up for one another, at work and beyond.
    • In Dublin, Gen co-sponsored an exclusive viewing of “Molly Vs THE MACHINES” with Cybersafe Kids, followed by a panel discussion. Gen employees also volunteered at the event, which opened the door to important conversations about navigating technology safely and responsibly.

These projects, and many others over the past year, show why flexibility matters. Communities have different needs, and employees have different ways to respond – all of which can make an impact.

    Giving brings us together
Passion to Purpose starts in local communities, but it also connects Team Gen. Approximately 69% of employees participated in Gen's volunteering and giving programs last year — supporting causes they care about and doing it alongside colleagues around the world.

    Carrying our purpose forward
One year in, Passion to Purpose has become more than a collection of local projects. It’s proof of what Team Gen can achieve when employees are trusted to lead and supported in acting on the causes they care about. As we head into year two, we're looking forward to seeing where Team Gen takes it next.

Because the best ideas for supporting a community often come from the people who call it home.
